Post-Tour

After the symposium, a post tour (optional, \ 50,000) is organized to allow the participants to discover UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Hiroshima and Miyajima.
NOTES: Time schedule may be flexible according to convenience of the participants.

  1. Start at Hakata JR Station (Wednesday afternoon)
  2. Miyajima-Itsukushima Shrine (Wednesday afternoon, Hotel and dinner)

    Miyajima or Itsukusima is the name of the island.

    The Floating Shrine on the Sea
    The shrine has more than 1400 years of history, and is a registered World Heritage Site. The vermillion lacquered shrine, located at the beautiful Itsukushima, fits well with the Prussian blue sea, and the green of the virgin forest, recreating the elegance of the Heian era. Many visitors from all around the world continue to visit.

    The name means Brocade Belt in Japanese.

    One of the most famous wooden bridges

    In 1673, the lord of the Iwakuni Domain, Hiroyoshi Kikkawa built a wooden bridge, which was to serve as the prototype for the bridge that exists today. Unfortunately, this bridge was soon washed away. The following year, the bridge was reconstructed with improvements. This bridge retained its majestic appearance for 276 years, until it was carried away by Typhoon Kezia in September 1950. After it was destroyed, the bridge was rebuilt again as a timber bridge, at the strong request of the local residents.

  5. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site)(Thursday afternoon)
