Information about The 62nd Annual Congeress of JSPD

Greeting

The 62nd Annual Congress of the Japanese Society of Pediatric Dentistry will be held in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, on May 16 and 17, 2024. I am Shigenari Kimoto of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Kanagawa Dental College, and I will serve as the President of this Congress. It has been 42 years since the 20th Congress was held in Yokosuka City, where our university is located, under the chairmanship of Professor Morio Higaki, who was the first professor of our department. I remember that in May 1982, as a fifth-year student at the School of Dentistry, I attended a lecture at the conference held on the university campus.

More than 40 years have passed since the 20th Annual Congress, and the role of pediatric dentistry in society has become even more important as dental care has shifted from a focus on dental caries treatment to supporting the development of oral functions. During my tenure as President, I have also emphasized the importance of sound oral function for overall health and the prevention of oral frailty, starting in childhood, to support healthy longevity in our country. The theme of this year's conference is "Supporting Children's Smiles and Bright Future! Children's Smiles and Bright Future - Nurturing the Mind and Body through Dentistry," the conference will focus on content related to children's mental development and physical growth and function development, from educational lectures and symposia to public lectures. We expect all participating members to engage in heated discussions to expand their perspectives on the future of pediatric dentistry.

The Yokosuka Art Theater, the largest theater in Yokosuka City, will be the main venue for the conference, and the adjacent hotel and Yokosuka City Industrial Exchange Plaza will be the venues for oral presentations, poster presentations, and commercial exhibits, respectively. On the west side of the venue is “Verny Park”, which overlooks the sea of Yokosuka, giving the city a unique atmosphere as a military port city. The pier in front of the convention site is also home to the recently popular "Yokosuka Military Port Tour" cruise ship, which, if you are lucky, will take you on a close-up tour of Maritime Self Defense Force destroyers, U.S. nuclear aircraft carriers, submarines, and other vessels. After the convention, we hope that you will enjoy the atmosphere of Yokosuka, the place where the Black Ships arrived, and Japan opened its doors to the world.

After the convention, we are preparing to make the lectures available on demand, although not all the programs will be available. The Preparation Committee and the Management Office will do our best to make the two-day conference meaningful for all the members who attended the conference, and we look forward to your attendance and participation.

Participation and the social gathering for overseas guests is free, but registration is required. If you wish to participate in the mixer held on the evening of Thursday, May 16th, The deadline is Friday, April 12th.

Important: The number of rooms is limited, so please inquire as soon as possible.

Poster Presentation

Poster presentations in English will be held on the first day of the congress (May 16) from 17:20 to 18:00.
Presenters should be in front of their posters during that time to respond to questions from participants.
Please take questions in front of your poster.

1. Each author is to be provided with a W900 mm X H2100 mm poster panel.
2. Box size of Poster number (to be announced later) is W200 mm X H200 mm.
3. Place the information of presentation title, authorʼs name and affiliation to the right side of the poster number box (within W700 mm X H200 mm. Also, mark “○” in front of the authorʼs name on the poster.)
4. The presentation style is free and the contents, including text, figure, graph or pictures must not be exceeded the provision frame of W900 mm X H1500 mm.
5. Nothing should be posted on the lower margin of the poster panel (W900 mm X H400 mm.)
6. The management secretariat will prepare the poster number paper. Please make the left top corner blank to put the number paper.
