SUP at Shakotan Blue ocean &
Night hiking at Cape Kamui Lighthouse after gate closing one day tour
Story
The Shakotan Peninsula, known for its stunning sunsets, is a region blessed with rich nature and abundant seafood, featuring a beautiful landscape of azure seas and unique rock formations. The cape that juts out into the sea in the northwest part of the peninsula is called "Kamui Cape."
Kamui Cape is a sacred place that was once more reverently known as "Okamui Cape." An essential part of Kamui Cape’s history is the "First-Class Immovable Lens," which once played a crucial role here.
Since its first illumination in 1888 (Meiji 21), this lens has been lighting up the Kamui Cape Lighthouse for over 130 years and is now the only one of its kind still in existence. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the significance of the "First-Class Immovable Lens," reflect on the lives of the lighthouse keepers, and envision the views they cherished, all while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Shakotan’s sea.
