  • Sword drawing experience ― Iaido ―

    You will be taught by a master swordsman with over twenty years of experience and get to use a real 400-year-old samurai sword.
    After practicing basic swordplay moves, you can actually cut tatami with real sword.

  • Taiko Experience

    Take part in an hour long lesson of taiko drumming. As taiko drumming is a very physical activity you may wish to bring a towel and spare shirt! You will start the class with light stretching and your instructor will show you how to hold the drum sticks and beat the drums. By the end of the class you should be able to beat out a rhythm with your instructor.

  • Kimono wearing

    “Kyoshoan” is a Kimono rental shop produced by a traditional Kimono fabric wholesaler. You can experience wearing kimono in long and narrow house at the back of Kyoto's alleyways has a tasteful appearance. Select your kimono and be dressed in a tatami mat room, while enjoying the Kyoto atmosphere.

  • Zen meditation

    The original and ultimate purpose of Zen is to attain enlightenment (satori). The purpose of zazen is to sit quietly and calm your mind. For modern people the most indispensable thing is to sit quietly and calmly, but in reality this is very difficult. By sitting deliberately surrounded by the nature and culture of this place, we hope you all will achieve deep peace in both body and mind.

  • Origami

    We take you to the amazing world of Origami, the art of folding paper into various shapes. A text book of Origami is also offered.

  • Tea Ceremony

    The tea ceremony experience we offer is not just watching the demonstration, but also you can join the authentic tea ceremony as a guest. In addition, you can try making green tea by yourselves!

  • Kyo-yuzen Dyeing

    Show your artistic side in Kyo-Yuzen‘s pattern painting course! Choose from a variety of articles to work with, browse through all the stencils at your disposal, and take advantage of the time-proven Kyo-Yuzen dyeing techniques to turn your vision into reality. By the time you’re finished you’ll have a work of art and have had a wonderful time!

  • Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki pottery

    Pottery artisan will politely teach you how to use a Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki pottery wheel in this 60-minute experience.

    Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. As for ikebana, anyone can create a fantastic work of art by themselves after acquiring the basic concepts and fundamental skills. Learning ikebana promotes a better understanding into the Japanese view of nature: a crucial step in appreciating the unique aesthetics of Japanese culture.

  • Sake Brewery

    Walking the streets of Fushimi, where is known for its excellent water, one notices the distinctive aroma of rice being steamed, and the fermentation of the “moromi” main mash. After brewery tour, you can taste several kinds of Sake.
