Annual Meeting on Photochemistry 2017

Annual meeting on photochemistry 2017 will be held in the Aobayama campus of Tohoku University during September 4 (Mon.) - 6 (Wed.), 2017, under the Japanese Photochemistry Association (JPA). The organizers cordially invite you to participate the annual meeting on photochemistry.

Established in 1907, Tohoku University is widely considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in Japan. The ancient castle grounds of Sendai's famous feudal war lord Masamune Date, are home to the majority of Tohoku University's facilities. The Aobayama campus on Aobayama mountain surrounded by beautiful fir forests native to the region's hilly terrain. Today, Aobayama's 400 year history of natural beauty endures next door to the thriving metropolis of Sendai city, home to more than one million people. Like Masamune, Tohoku University continues to reach out to the world in the pursuit of truth.

In this annual meeting on photochemistry, an exciting scientific program will cover not only many compounds, such as organic or inorganic molecules and inorganic materials, but also various photochemical phenomena including photochemical reactions and optical measurements, in order to look over hot topics from the multidisciplinary viewpoint. Furthermore, as well as quantum chemistry-based interactions between light and materials, it will focus on technological applications, i.e., development of materials for light energy conversion, luminescence, or optical memory, solution for environmental problems, and life science, by which participants will enjoy boundary fields between basic science and useful technology. Thus, on the basis of harmonizing these topics, the purpose of this annual meeting on photochemistry is to create novel scientific fields, to further develop science and technology, and to cultivate young photochemists.

We have planned a large number of scientific programs including plenary or invited lectures, oral presentations, poster presentations and focused sessions related to photo-functional nanomaterials and/or devices and bioimaging application, which contain a lot of presentations in English as well as those in Japanese. In particular, the Best Presentation Award for Students will be awarded to students who have done nice presentations! We would like students to apply to these prizes.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Sendai.
